What brought you to join Equilibrium Wealth?
I honed my skills as an investor and advisor while working for some of the largest institutional investment firms. Along the way, I realized that I wanted to narrow my focus to working with individuals and families who were invested in the investments directed by these institutions. I founded Equilibrium Wealth as an outgrowth of my personal experience and our journey to becoming a cross-border family between the US and Israel.
What do you enjoy most about working with clients?
A perfect day for me includes learning new things. I’m a life-long learner and enjoy acquiring new knowledge and putting it to work for the client’s benefit. While other advisors may focus on getting new business and outsourcing client interactions to junior team members, I thrive on working with existing clients. For me, developing client relationships means constantly learning and being on the cutting edge of what’s developing in financial services and turning it into practical advice for my clients.
What is most important to you in building meaningful client relationships?
I like to use the analogy of a client’s financial journey being like climbing a mountain. My role is to serve as an experienced guide who impacts my clients’ success on their financial journey. Many of my clients are self-made and are good at what they do. Our clients realize they need the expertise of a financial guide who will work with them to evaluate investment risks objectively. Because we work with both US and Israeli investors, we focus not just on the inherent complexity of each country but on the combined interaction of the two.
What are your areas of specialization?
There are a host of practical issues that are critical to dual US/Israel citizens and global Israel investors. They’re easy to get wrong, and misinformed investors can end up paying a big price. The tax treaty between the US and Israel that grants new arrivals in Israel a 10-year exemption from income earned outside of Israel impacts financial and investment decisions, including selected investment opportunities that may be available in the US but not in Israel. We understand the nuances of these situations and can help guide and advocate for clients to maximize their investment potential. Additionally, we understand the interplay between the US $ and the Israel shekel and can manage and integrate shekel accounts.
How do you give back to the community?
My most impactful role in the community is to support the leaders of organizations to help them make the best use of their resources. I utilize my professional skillset to present a story in numbers to relevant decision-makers.
What is one key takeaway that you would like to share?
I worked for 35 years with the world’s largest, most demanding, and most sophisticated financial institutions like JP Morgan and UBS. I am extremely gratified with my decision to pivot and use this knowledge to help individuals and families in the US and Israel reach their financial goals.
